As Christians we should live with eternity in our sights. It will be a home-coming, a celestial celebration, if you will, where we will stand before His throne in hopes of hearing our Saviour say, “Well done, good and faithful servant! Come into your eternal rest.” (Matthew 25:23, 34) Forwe who depart this world knowing our eternity is secure through the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, there is no weeping or sorrow. Still,as we attendthe funeral of a believer, though it may be a celebration of a life well-lived, we will mourn and miss our loved one until we are once again reunited with them in Heaven. Be comforted by these Bible verses and share them with those who might needencouragement in their time of bereavement.
Psalm 23 (NKJV) “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever.”
Matthew 5:4 “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”
John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
Romans 8:35-39 “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?
