Summary
Dani Olmo gave Spain an early lead in their opening game of the World Cup.
He gorgeously collected a ball from Gavi on the turn, before lofting it over Keylor Navas in the Costa Rica goal.
Then, with 20 minutes gone, stand-in striker Marco Asensio swept home a cross from Jordi Alba after another lovely move.
Ten minutes later, Jordi Alba was fouled in the box, and Ferran Torres stroked home the penalty.
It has been more of the same in the second-half, with Torres adding a second after a fine turn inside the box.
With 15 minutes left, 18-year-old Gavi became the third-youngest scorer in World Cup history, before Carlos Soler converted a rebound in the 90th minute.
After 93 minutes, Morata fired home against a chastened Costa Rican defence.
Earlier, groupmates Germany were sensationally beaten by Japan. Hansi Flick's side could exit the tournament if they lose to Spain on Sunday.

Luis Enrique satisfied with Spain win
Luis Enrique is a happy man after today’s big win.
“You always are positive and optimistic, but not to this level,” he just said on Spanish TV. “We never let up, even being 3-0 up at half-time. We had as an objective to be professional enough to play the game until the end. Costa Rica in the second half were also totally overrun. We kept pressing off the ball very well, we kept recovering the ball very quickly after losing it. I am very happy.
“When a game goes like this it is marvelous to see the faces of all the players. There are players who can play a lot better than that, there are always things to improve in football. But the important thing is the idea we have, regardless of the result. We want to dominate the game from the start, whoever we play. Maybe they will say today was a weak opponent, but Costa Rica always compete well in every World Cup.”

Luis Fernando Suarez: They were better. That's obvious
Costa Rica head coach Luis Fernando Suarez has acknowledged Spain “were much better than us” after his side’s heavy 7-0 defeat.
“That's obvious,” he said. “The way they played was really good, they kept possession of the ball throughout the match. They were very much on the attacking side.
“They played in the final third for most of the game, we did the exact opposite. We didn't have possession of the ball, we didn't go to attack. We didn't try to recover the ball and we had too many turnovers.
“Spain played an amazing game, and we didn’t.”
How Spain steamrollered Costa Rica
Dermot Corrigan, Carl Anka and Ahmed Walid have analysed the key talking points from Spain's mammoth win.
Torres speaks!
“Very happy, we knew it would be a difficult game. At HT we had a convincing result, but we knew that goals can count in a competition like this, so we went for more.”
“We always try and play in the way we want, from minute 1 to 90. And today we achieved that.”
“Now it’s time to think about Germany, watch videos of how they play. And with the excitement and motivation we have to play.”
“I don’t know if we are candidates (for trophy), but we have an extraordinary group and we will make things very difficult, and we really want to go do great things.”

#attendancewatch from roving reporter Luke Bosher
For those on #attendancewatch, this looks to be the most poorly attended game of the World Cup so far. With Spain dominating proceedings since the opening minutes, that number has slowly been dwindling and they are large areas of empty seats with 20 minutes left to play...
