Tips To Enjoy Hurricane Harbor Water Park at Six Flags Over Georgia (2024)

Hurricane Harbor Water Park is an in-park oasis for families spending the day at Six Flags Over Georgia. Free with general park admission, it is a nice spot to relax, escape the Georgia heat, and enjoy some fun on beach-themed water rides.

My son said, “It’s like White Water, but smaller,” adding he liked the idea of cooling off in the wave pool and then hitting the roller coasters nearby. Six Flags theme parks are known for their rides, and the water rides here at their Georgia location are a great addition to the lineup.

Here are 11 great reasons to visit Six Flags Over Georgia’s Hurricane Harbor Water Park.

HURRICANE HARBOR WATER PARK ATTRACTIONS

You’ll find some great attractions at Six Flags Over Georgia’s Hurricane Harbor. You’ll find body slides, tube slides, thrill slides, a zero-entry pool, and even a fun area for the littlest thrill seekers in your crew. Here’s what you can expect at Hurricane Harbor Water Park.

  • Tsunami Surge– This five-story tall slide sends a 4-person tube down an enclosed section and ends with a wave wall that imitates the sensation of weightlessness.
  • Bonzai Pipelines–Three intertwined 41-foot tall water body slides send single or double riders through enclosed twists, turns and pools. Perfect for those thrill seekers.
  • Calypso Bay- A huge zero-entry pool with 4-foot ocean waves and several small fountains for children, tube rentals and complimentary life vests are available.
  • Paradise Play Island–A soft surface children’s play area features 6 water slides housed in a giant Pirate Ship. This interactive structure has rope climbs, slides, water sprayers, water wheels and plenty of in-ground fountains. Watch out for the giant buckets, which can drop over 2,000 gallons of water on you!

Looking for the famous Dive Bomber and the Lazy River? You won’t find those at Six Flags Hurricane Harbor, but you can find them nearby at White Water, in Marietta.

HURRICANE HARBOR EATS

Hurricane Harbor has one eatery, The Tidal Wave Café, which serves salads, pizza, hot dog and hamburger platters. Throughout the main park, you’ll find plenty of standard fare, along with healthier choices such as wraps and gluten free pizza, lasagna and brownies. You can also pack a cooler in the car, and take a short break for lunch in the parking lot.

Although outside food is not allowed in any area of the park, exceptions are made for food allergies and infants. Check with guest services at the front gate to have your items labeled before entering the park.

HURRICANE HARBOR AMENITIES

Two on-site bathhouses provide plenty of restrooms, curtained changing areas and even showers. By the end of the day, the floor can be really wet (and even a bit dirty). Bring flip-flops and be careful, it can be slippery!

Shady spots can be found around the play land, in the lounge chairs located at the back area of Calypso Bay or in one of the 11 swanky cabanas, which can be rented online and include food service.

Forget something? There is a beach-themed retail spot inside the water park that sells everything from sunscreen to bathing suits.

TIPS FOR A GREAT DAY AT SIX FLAGS OVER GEORGIA HURRICANE HARBOR

  • Go FREE. Did you know children in K-6th grade can earn FREE tickets to Six Flags though their Read to Succeed program? The deadline for registering and all terms and conditions can be found seasonally on sixflags.com. This annual program usually has a registration deadline ofearly March.
  • Get a Discount. Discount tickets to Six Flags Over Georgia can be bought online, saving you as much as $20 per ticket.
  • Plan to Walk. Be ready for lots of walking, it’s a good hike from the parking lot to the back of the park where Hurricane Harbor is located. It’s worth waiting for the tram ride to the front gate if you have smaller children.
  • Get there Early: Most folks wait to visit the water features at Six Flags until they’re hot and tired from the roller coasters and other rides. To avoid the crowds and long lines at the slides, visit this area first and hit the water slides immediately.
  • Go single or double on Bonzai Pipelines: There are three tubes on the Bonzai Pipelines. My boys swear the purple is faster, but that’s not been scientifically proven. We do know that you can grab a single tube or double tube to ride down any of the pipelines.
  • Know the height restrictions: Nothing is worse than getting a child all excited to do something only to find out they don’t measure up. Guests for Tsunami Surge must be 48″ to ride. For Bonzai Pipelines 42″. Children must be at least 36″ to play at Paradise Island unless they are accompanied by an adult.
  • More than Water Rides for Kids. Within a short walking distance, smaller children can enjoy kid-sized rides in Bugs Bunny Land, as well as the classic carousel and old-timey Hanson cars. Older kids will enjoy being close to both the Superman and Scream Machine roller coasters.
