I love the people and the teachers here but the academic system is too much for just starting a year in high school. Mostly since middle schools work in different ways cause everyone to have a different work ethic and some take time to adjust but other then that, its a great school

GNYA is an overall decent high school. You'll get what you're looking for if you want academics and extracurriculars. Unfortunately, there is no gym, and there haven't been any sport programs in years; there are no expectations when it comes to sports. They do not provide school lunch either, but there are several food options around the school that students can purchase from. The religious aspect of the Adventist high school is alive, with two weekly chapels and other religious activities. The teachers tend to care about their students, but also give excessive amounts of work. The student body is diverse, with hispanic, black, white, and pacific islanders. However, the race that is most focused on is the black/ African American race. The building itself is pretty old, with many stairs and an elevator that has never been put to use. Even after COVID, the school continues to teach students both online and in person. Overall, expect to learn, but don't get your hopes up for much else.

Don't let it's small building fool you. If you want to go to a school that focuses on academics and preparing you spiritually then this is the place to be.

I really enjoyed the spiritual aspect of the school. The faculty and staff really care for the students, taking time out of their day to listen to them and offer advice. The only downside is the lack of a gymnasium at the school.

During my four years at Greater New York Academy, I had a wonderful time. The teacher are great and do everything in their power to teach the topic to you. If anything the lack of a gym is their only down fall.

Greater New York Academy (GNYA) is a spirit-filled school with great teachers and religious activities, though lacks some crucial features such as a gymnasium, SAT/ACT test prep, and accommodations for special-needs students, most-likely a result of limited funding. Competing against public schools may not give GNYA the best rating, but as a place through which you could grow spiritually, academically, and mentally with a community of loving teachers who care, GNYA may score the highest.

Greater New York Academy is a great school to send your kid too. They train the children very well and they train them extremely well for college. They are very religious and they also allow you to gain a close relationship with God.

Greater New York Academy is a model of what an efficient school should be. With a culture of Godliness, Excellence and Leadership, Greater New York Academy has provided me with a safe and comfortable learning environment where I have grown Academically. Being voted Student Association in my school, and being supported by all the faculty and staff has allowed me to be successful and blossom. With sufficient resources and teachers to help, this school has opened by eyes to a world of endless possibilities and aspects of my passion for Business and Pre-Law. If I had to do it over again, I would pick Greater New York Academy every single time.

I graduated from GNYA in 2011,and I loved it. In my time there I had excellent teachers and excellent spiritual life. I involved myself in several activities , including National Honor Society, Intramural Basketball, Sign Language Group Divine Touch, A.Y.B.L.and my class of '11 was known for putting on plays and events, i.e., fashion shows. I took AP Literature, AP Language, AP Biology, and I took state regents meant for upperclassman in grade 9 and passed with flying colors. The school lacks funding, but I loved it and wouldn’t have gone elsewhere if I were to do it all over again.
A few things: The school could improve on safety and security with a school nurse and a security guard. They could also improve on their policies for pregnant students (kicked the girl out back in my day)and have a supportive environment for ALL students, including LGBTQI.I couldn't have let anyone know my sexuality back then,as members of the LGBTQI community were OFTEN vilified.

This school is amazing. The school is located in Woodside,NY. This school has an amazing student to teacher ratio. Although the school doesn’t have a gym, it is currently being built. The replacement for the gym is that the kids walk to the park and gym takes place there.

I attended only for my senior year. When you attend the school its like a weight is on your shoulders (not a good weight). the spiritual life is pretty good there is chapel twice a week and most teachers have devotion before class starts. Academically some classes challenge you more than others. I found myself comparing the school to public schools that I've attended for most of my life, in most areas it lacked but it succeeded in many also.

Currently I am a senior at Greater New York Academy. In all my four year, I have loved the experience and it has brought me closer to God. I love the school spirit and how much the teachers are very flexible in ensuring that all students are able to understand and grasp learn new lessons. I would gladly send my child here. "OH GNYA, FOR YOU WE WILL STAND. FOR YOU WE'LL DO OUR BEST." In the school, no one is left out. Everyone is close with one another and we help each other like a family. Thank you Greater.

I honestly loved the experience I had here. They managed to create a sense of unity within the students as they taught us. Also, you could tell that the staff cares about the students as well. It is like a second family !

Teachers are great and the lessons are interesting. Students are motivated to do better however classrooms are limited, and the buliding is old and falling apart. There is no gym which means during the winter, there's no physical activity and during the spring time and fall, a 15 minute walk to a park

I am currently a student at this high school, and I can honestly say that so far it has been some of the best times of my life. This school is full of warmth from the students, to the teachers, and even the janitor (Robbie). Although the school administration as a whole lacks in the sports department, it fully makes up for in the academic and all other departments. I full recommend this school.

I love the teacher student relationships at Greater New York Academy. They genuinely care about you and your future. AP and honors classes are provided as well as orchestra and choir activities. The school is also surrounded by different food places that are affordable. If the school had more money, I'm sure the facilities would improve significantly and more activities can be offered. In addition, the gym needs to be built to provide more athletic opportunities for the students. overall, it is a great school I would definitely recommend.

Greater New York Academy is a very family oriented. Everyone knows everyone and everyone cares for everyone. It is a very small school where the teachers are willing to make sacrifices for students. The teachers are the best thing at this school, if you allow them to guide you, they will take you to great places! Everything else about this school is very poor or mediocre. Academically, it is a mediocre school where many students pass with an average of a B or C. There are only 2-3 clubs, no sports, and has no diversity. I wish to more extra curriculums and experience other cultures. Greater New York Academy is not the best school, but it will morally and spiritually shape a person.

The friends I made at the school are friends for a lifetime. Staff members such as Mr. And Mrs. Valcin, and Ms. Ball are the best teachers/ staff members at the school.
