Professional Practice Models (PPM)

Prisma Health Nursing practice is guided by Professional Practice Models (PPM) that depict how nurses practice, collaborate, communicate and develop professionally. These models are designed to support their control over the delivery of nursing care and the environment in which that care is delivered and are centered on the caring relationship between nurses and patients.

Nursing Per Diem Program

• Tier 1 is a campus unit-based assignment with the standard PRN commitment of 24 hours over a 6 week period, weekend commitment based on unit needsand 1 holiday per year.
• Tier 2 is a campus unit-based assignment, where a team member may work like-units or competency-based assignments with a minimum 48 hour commitment over a 6-week schedule, including 2 weekend shifts and 1 holiday per year.
• Tier 3is a campus unit-based assignment, where a team member may work like-units or competency-based assignments with a minimum 96 hour commitment for a 6-week schedule, including 3 weekend shifts and 2 holidays per year.
• Tier 4 is in the Internal Resource Pool (IRP), where a team member receives daily assignment to units within their competency-based skill set and must float to all campuses in either the Upstate or Midlands market. This positions requires a minimum 108 hour commitment over a 6 week schedule, including 3 weekend shifts and 2 holidays per year.
• Tier 5 is a part-time position in the Internal Resource Pool (IRP), where a team member receives daily assignment to units within their competency-based skill set and must float to all campuses in either the Upstate or Midlands market. This position requires a commitment of 24 hours per week, 3 weekend shifts over a 6 week scheduleand 2 holidays per year.
• Tier 6 is a full-time position in the Internal Resource Pool (IRP), where a team member receives daily assignment to units within their competency-based skill set and must float to all campuses in either the Upstate or Midlands market. This position requires a commitment of 36 hours per week, 6 weekend shifts over a 6 week scheduleand 4 holidays per year.
• Tier 7 is a full-time Internal Traveler position in the Internal Resource Pool (IRP), where a team member works a 12 week assignment in a specific unit/hospital within their competency-based skillset. New 12 week assignments will be on a different unit and is based on highest vacancy. This position requires a commitment of 36 hours per week, 6 weekend shifts over a 6 week scheduleand 4 holidays per year.
